Meet Karen! She is our amazing account manager, who focuses on the details of the company. She is a tremendous help with the operations management side of the company.
Karen grew up and lived a large part of her life in Cleveland, moving to Cincinnati after retiring from a career of 37 years. Her enjoyment of good, quality coffee began in Cleveland, so when she moved, she tried all the local coffees and fell in love with La Terza. When Karen was trying to figure out how she should spend the next chapter of life, she started doing deliveries and packaging for Chuck, La Terza’s founder. Six months later, she began a year long roasting apprenticeship with him. When Robert came to work for La Terza, Karen naturally shifted into her accountant role because of her detail-oriented nature. Karen continues to fill in occasionally as a roaster.
When it comes to her favorite La Terza coffee, Karen has been really intrigued with the coffee from Panama, a fairly new bean for La Terza. She remarks, “I find them and their taste to be incredibly beautiful.” Her husband’s parents lived in Panama which makes these beans even more meaningful. For her, “they are very unique.” Karen recalls that she used to be drawn to the Indonesian and fuller body coffees but has gradually transformed to enjoy a lighter palate.
Karen’s love of La Terza is largely because of the quality of the coffee and the high standard we have for each bean. She says, “I believe that this is the best coffee in Cincinnati.” Furthermore, she believes in the vision and mission of the company which drives her promotion of our goods and other coffee opportunities.
What’s a fun fact about Karen? She has a propensity for adopting handicapped animals! She currently cares for a seven-year-old blind golden retriever and two cats with other health problems.
Next time you’re at La Terza picking up some fresh beans, be sure to say hi to Karen!
