Like most aspects of the business, La Terza is very intentional when it comes to our milk offerings and dairy-free alternatives.
In fact, we just began partnering with Snowville Creamery as our primary milk supplier! They source milk from small, local farms that pride themselves on regenerative and sustainable farming practices. The cows are given a natural diet of grass and non-GMO feeds and forage, and aren’t given any artificial growth hormones! But that’s besides the point… We’re just really excited about our new milk.
Today we want to address a couple of common “Milk Myths” and get you thinking about one of the key ingredients in our specialty drinks.
Myth #1: Fat-free milk is the best option
BUSTED! According to several studies, “people who eat full-fat dairy aren’t any likelier to develop heart disease or diabetes than people who eat low-fat dairy.” We offer both options, but prefer whole milk for the richness is brings to the drink (and the latte art!)
Myth #2: Most adults usually can’t digest lactose
BUSTED AGAIN! Nutrition Science professor Dr. Dennis Savaino says that “drinking milk regularly can make your body more used to digesting lactose, even if you’ve shown signs of intolerance before.” Maybe it’s time to train your tummy, eh?
Myth #3: All dairy products are the same
The truth is, “Milk and yogurt are more nutrient-rich than cheese and cream… [Cheese] has more nutrients than cream, but is not fortified with vitamin D the way milk often is.”
Well, there you have it! Three myths about milk, debusted. Now go get started on those milk mustaches!
